The pilot light went out on my 40 gallon natural gas Whirlpool water heater that was originally installed in 2004.
In March of 2012 I replaced the thermocouple myself and it lasted great until now.
I was unable to get the pilot light to re-light myself. I called Golden Rule and their tech was able to get it to light but it would not stay lit.
I decided to replace it with a similar 40 gallon tank made by Ruud and installed by Golden Rule for about $1,250.
I considered a replacement in 2012 and was able to get almost 7 more years out of the unit!
